Conference Weekend
It was nice to take the weekend and listen to our Prophet and Aposltes of our
Church and to know that there is a modern day Prophet whom speaks with god and whom cares abouyt each and every one of us. I especially enjoyed hearing President Eyring and President Uchdorf and what they had to say. I wish I could have heard more of the 5th session but I had a young man who wouldn't cooperate and needed to have a nap. I still love him though, he is the sparkle in my eye most of the time. It doesn't take long after you bear children to realize how much you count on your Heavenly Father to help you in the daily choices we make, as they are always watching, whether it is good or bad!I am having a hard time typing as my Ambien is kicking in so i will sign off and add more pics soon.
I Gotta get outta of this place!!!!!!!!
I am so, so, so ready for Spring. Please come and wam me up! I am tired of the inconsistant temperatures which are playing havoc with my health. It seems now that I have had a cold for a week now it is progressing right into my ears, just what I do NOT want to deal with.
I would also like to get my yard started and could deal with a little less wind on the weekend. Eubanks, can you HEAR me? He has a nice gig don't ya think.

Family update
Anicea is doing great. She is eating more and more and is really starting to move her head around more and is really attentive to things. Jake still adores her and has been really good adapting to his new lifestyle. He's invited to his first official friend birthday party on Saturday and is very excited to go, it is his little girlfriend Danica from daycare. He is also excited for an Easter egg hunt on Friday at Shauna's house with the kids, they can't wait for him to be back.
Sue is enjoying having a little girl to fuss about and she is doing a great job adjusting to her new life. It seems like she is always feeding Anicea or taking care of the twins (think about it). It is never ending for her and She does seem tired, so she is taking well deserved power naps throughout the day.
As a family we are really excited to go do some RVing asap. Sand Hollow will be a good time as always, but we hope the weather will be a bit warmer than the past few years and alot less windy. We are also looking forward to starting again on the basement now the hospital bills will be behind us, we are really close to being ready for sheetroc, then things should go fast from there. I am also looking forward to getting outside to do yard work and getting a garden plot ready for planting.........Dad I'll be calling for some info, haven't done much since the garden at Grandma's. I actually miss doing that over there. I loved spreading horse manure and tilling it in......something about the fragrance....mmm....really.
Take care and God bless.
Can we make it to 300K on the HONDA?
The HONDA lives to ride again!!!!!!!!!! This car never dies, it just says I need a new fuel pump. Which is a good thing because it died 3 days after I had the safety/IM inspection on it and payed for the new license tags.......so I would not have been happy about that. Also, it was just my luck that the day it died I had just barely filled up the tank at an insanely high fuel price........so deep down I am glad that the old girl lives on, because Spanish Fork is a few miles away and the truck likes to slurp the no lead fuel like Lori slurps her Diet Coke.
Brad and Chris..........you to need to come learn how to drive a stick shift. Real men drive a stick, married men have to get automatics.
By the way I am working in Spanish Fork/Mapleton now at the new Maple Mountain High School. Let me just say this ain't your daddy's high school, they are building them nice these days. Lots of architectural stuff and things that students can throw things on just to do it. It has been a real nice change from working on the Midtown menagerie. Hopefully something will start up closer to home soon.
I am almost done with my 3rd year of apprenticeship and only have one left, but this year in school has been an utmost waste of my time and money, as I don't feel I have learned anything new all year. It has been frustrating to stay the least, but the end is now in sight.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWW
Science vs. God
Thought you might find this interesting...
Science VS God
"Let me explain the problem science has with Jesus Christ." The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asksone of his new students to stand.
"You're a Christian, aren't you, son?"
"Yes sir," the student says.
"So you believe in God?""
Absolutely."
"Is God good?"
"Sure! God's good."
"Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?"
"Yes."
"Are you good or evil?"
"The Bible says I'm evil.
"The professor grins knowingly. "Aha! The Bible!" He considers for amoment."Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here andyou can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?"
"Yes sir, I would."
"So you're good...!"
"I wouldn't say that."
"But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if youcould. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't."The student does not answer, so the professor continues. "He doesn't,does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even thoughhe prayed to Jesus to heal him How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can youanswer that one?"The student remains silent."No, you can't, can you?" the professor says. He takes a sip of waterfrom a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax."Let's start again, young fella Is God good?"
"Er...yes," the student says.
"Is Satan good?"
The student doesn't hesitate on this one. "No."
"Then where does Satan come from?
"The student : "From...God..."
"That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?"
"Yes, sir."
"Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?"
"Yes."
"So who created evil?" The professor continued, "If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and accordingto the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil."Without allowing the student to answer, the professor continues: "Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?"
The student: "Yes."
"So who created them? "The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. "Who created them? There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class ismesmerized. "Tell me," he continues onto another student. "Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?
"The student' s voice is confident: "Yes, professor, I do.
"The old man stops pacing. "Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?"
"No sir. I've never seen Him"
"Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?"
"No, sir, I have not."
"Have you ever actually felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?"
"No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't."
"Yet you still believe in him?"
"Yes."
"According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
"Nothing," the student replies. "I only have my faith."
"Yes, faith," the professor repeats. "And that is the problem science
has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.
"The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of his own. "Professor, is there such thing as heat?"
"Yes," the professor replies. "There's heat."
"And is there such a thing as cold?"
"Yes, son, there's cold too."
"No sir, there isn't. "The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain."You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don'thave anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the totalabsence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it. "Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer. "What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?"
"Yes," the professor replies without hesitation. "What is night if itisn't darkness?"
"You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use todefine the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would beable to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?
"The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. "So what point are you making, young man?"
"Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed."The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time.
"Flawed? Canyou explain how?"
"You are working on the premise of duality," the student explains."You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much lessfully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it." "Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?"
"If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do"
"Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir? "The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.
"Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher? The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided."To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean. "The student looks around the room. "Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?" The class breaks out into laughter. "Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelled the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir. So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir? "Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. "I guess you'll have to take them on faith."
"Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life," the student continues. "Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?
"Now uncertain, the professor responds, "Of course, there is. We see it everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.
"To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when mandoes not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes whenthere is no light.
"The professor sat down.

For my Wife
Suzanne,
Just a quick blog to let you know that I love you. Thank you for 2 beautiful children and 4 wonderful years. I know I can be a big pain in the rear alot of the times and you deserve a medal for putting up with my a..............ntics. I appreciate you more than I show and more than you know. Your a great wife and a wonderful mother to Jake and Anicea. Thank you for all you had to go through to get them here and for all you do for them now. Also, thank you for your loving support in the things I have wanted to do and always encouraging me along the way.
Your the BEST!!!!!!!!
I Love you
Cousins Dinner
Tonight, Suzanne and I went to dinner with my some of my sisters and cousins. It was nice to see some of Doug's (Ivie) kids and their spouses. To all those who didn't make it, we missed you and please join us next time. I want all of my sisters to know how much I love you girls and appreciate all that you have done for me, big or small.
Jake and Anicea went to Gram and Gramp Ivie's for a few hours, and we thank them for always being willing to help us out with the kids when necessary. Still sounds kind of weird thinking that I have kids that need to be watched. Oh what a difference 4 years makes, go figure!

Good evening everybody. Anecia has been home now since Tuesday afternoon and she is doing terrific. She mainly just eats and sleeps, go figure. She is only getting up once during the night, so that is a real plus for Mom & Dad. Jake has been really cute with her. Suzanne said that when they got home that he went in by her crib and just watched her for over 30 minutes. He really loves his little sister. Tonight, he was singing songs to her while he fed her the bottle. (See the small video clip). Suzanne is getting back to normal and experiencing less discomfort everyday. She is so happy to not be pregnant anymore, and thinks my Father's Day gift will be the dreaded "V" but I think NOT!!!!!!!! If that is my Father's Day gift then I got news for her for Mother's Day, shall I say; "all aboard"? As for me, I am enjoying being a new Dad again. I think it is just great!!!! Good night all.

Jacob's big surprise!!!!
On Sunday we were able to take Jacob up to the hospital and hold his Anicea. He was really cute when he came in and saw her in the "bonding" room. He was able to hold her and feed her some of her bottle which made him very happy. He will be a great brother to his sister. Here is a litle video.
Update
Sorry for the lack of news, but there hasn't been a real lot of things to report. That being said, Anecia is doing really well. She has had her I.V. taken out so that is a good thing. She is out of her isolette and in a crib, eating well but losing a little weight but that will come back. Hopefully she will be home on Tuesday at the latest.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anicea Shawn Ivie
born: March 5, 2008, 12:11 a.m.
6lbs 7.4 oz
20.5"
Good morning everybody. Yesterday(Tuesday), Sue's water broke around 5:45 p.m. I'm not sure if you could ever be prepared for it to happen IN THE CAR! I immediately called labor and delivery and said I think my wife's water has just broken and they promptly replied: what makes you think that? I replied: Cause she just told me it did. When will women ever believe men? Probably never.
We weren't far from home so we grabbed our stuff while Jen & Jared rescued Jake (thanks a ton guys) and headed for St. Mark's. We arrived and pretty much to a waiting crew, they whisped us to a room and immediately checked her and she was only dialated to a 3.5 still. We coudn't believe she hadn't progressed at all. At 10:40 or so she still had only progressed to a 4 and we both thought we were in for a long night. Much to our surprise they checked again at 11:30 and Anicea was right there and ready to come into this world. By the time we got set up and started right after midnight, Sue pushed 4 or 5 times and there she was at 00:11 or (12:11 a.m.).
Mother and Baby are doing great. Anicea did go to NICU to be evaluated. She did get a little cold last night so they have her in an isolette but we hope she we be upstairs with mom soon.

We plan to name her (unless we change our minds): Anicea Shawn Ivie
Brian and I have a dinner bet on the weight & size of our baby. Brian thinks she will weigh 6LBS 8 Ounces, 18 inches long. I think she will be 6LBS 5 ounces, 18 inches long.

Still waiting
Surprisingly enough they did send us to labor and delivery. We better not come home without a baby or I'll have no more excuses for work. I feel so guilty. Oh well, this will pass I am sure. Sue said she feels guilty to missing work, NOT!
HEADLINE!!!!!!!Jake woke up dry and has been dry all day.......YEEEEEHAW! We do not need 2 in diapers.
Later, Bri
Baby update
Things are changing with Sue and her labor pains so we our on our way to the Dr./hospital. Hopefully, baby will come today because I don't want a leap year baby. I think that would be as bad as Valentine's Day, but then I guess March 1 would be okay and she could share her bday with Craig. I'll keep all posted, but this is where I'll try to post pics and info.
Have a great day and cross your fingers for us.

Add us into the mix
Okay, I guess it is our turn to join the ranks of the family blogging craze. Hopefully we can figure out how to use it so we'll have a bit of fun with it. Besides, I think this will be the easiest way to share photo's of Jake and the new baby (when she arrives). So check back as we will start posting soon.
